Neptune

 

Neptune was named after the ancient Roman god of the sea. Although Neptune is a huge planet, it is not visible from Earth without the use of a telescope. Neptune was discovered with a telescope in 1846.Neptune is 4.8 billion kilometres from the sun. It is the eighth planet from the sun. About every 228 years Pluto’s orbit crosses paths with Neptune’s. Neptune is the eighth planet in the solar system. 

Neptune has 4 rings. The size is about 2 times bigger then the Earth in diameter. The Diameter of Neptune is 49,528 km. Neptune’s Surface is a liquid layer covered with thick clouds with raging storms. Neptune has 13 satellites.
